Background: Kringlan is the largest shopping mall in Reykjavík, offering a diverse range of over 120 shops, more than 20 dining options, and various services. Nestled in the heart of Reykjavík, Kringlan provides a comprehensive destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment, featuring everything from a public library to a luxury cinema, all with ample parking space for visitors.
Challenge: Kringlan faced significant challenges in modernizing its gift card sales and redemption process due to the fact that its 150 stores and restaurants operated on various Point of Sale (POS) systems. None of the retailers shared the same POS infrastructure, necessitating a complex project management approach to ensure all vendors could implement Gift to Wallet. This required integrating POS applications across different systems such as LS Retail, DK POS, Regla, Salescloud, and others, or alternatively installing the Gift to Wallet POS application from Apple or Google to facilitate gift card redemptions.
Solution: By adopting Gift to Wallet, Kringlan eliminated its reliance on a legacy banking solution that lacked the flexibility and efficiency needed for gift card sales. This implementation allowed the shopping center to sell gift cards electronically through its website using Gift to Wallet’s frontend solutions. Moreover, corporate clients can now bulk purchase gift cards for employee incentives such as Christmas gifts providing a streamlined electronic delivery option.
Implementation: The integration process involved ensuring that all participating stores were equipped with the necessary POS capabilities. Gift to Wallet was successfully deployed across diverse systems, allowing for the seamless redemption of gift cards. Kringlan’s sales team can now schedule bulk electronic deliveries to B2B customers, enhancing the shopping experience and offering significant time savings for corporate clients.
Outcome: As a direct result of implementing Gift to Wallet, Kringlan has successfully increased gift card sales and improved customer satisfaction. The shopping center can now sell gift cards online, bypassing high credit card transaction fees previously incurred by retailers. Additionally, the ability to offer bulk gift card purchases has positioned Kringlan as a premier choice for corporate gifting, particularly during the holiday season, contributing to a significant boost in overall sales.
